Originally from London, England Steve Bogaerts has been living in Mexico since August 99.
He came to the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico in order to pursue his passion for exploration in the amazing submerged cave systems of the area.
During this period he has been actively exploring many of these unique natural wonders including all 3 of the worlds longest underwater cave systems - Ox Bel Ha, Nohoch Nah Chich and Dos Ojos - all of which are found along the stretch of coastline known as the Riviera Maya.
Steve is an enormously versatile and experienced diver and has dived all over the World using the latest in cutting edge technology including Mixed Gas Closed Circuit Rebreathers and extended duration deep rated Diver Propulsion Vehicles in an effort to push back the boundaries of the underwater realm.
Steve has been involved in many exploration projects that have taken him to places as diverse as the coastal waters of the UK, Scapa Flow, The Maldives, The Egyptian Red Sea, The Yemen, The Mediterranean, The Patagonian coast of Argentina, The Mexican Caribbean and Island of Cozumel and of course the Jungles of the Yucatan Peninsula.
Steve holds the highest attainable Instructor ratings in Recreational, Technical and Cave diving. He is an International Fellow of the Explorers Club of New York and is a recipient of the Abe Davis Safe Cave Diving Award. He is the National Speleological Society Cave Diving Sections Safety Officer for Quintana Roo.
Steve has given presentation on Cave and Technical Diving around the world and has had article published in various international Magazines and Newspapers. He has also been involved in Film and TV documentary projects.
Currently Steve is actively exploring several Cave Systems in Quintana Roo.
